IK Multimedia has expanded its AI Machine Modelling ecosystem with the launch of the TONEX ONE+, an ultra-compact guitar pedal that introduces full wireless mobile editing and TRS MIDI integration.
Quick Take
Adds full wireless control via the TONEX Control app for iOS and Android, eliminating the need for a desktop connection.
Introduces full MIDI integration via TRS and USB for seamless automation and pedalboard switching.
Includes the exclusive Signature+ Collection featuring 100 Premium Tone Models, with 20 preloaded directly on the pedal.
Operates as a standalone multi-effects unit or a 24-bit USB audio interface for direct-to-DAW recording.
Available immediately for $/€249.99, bundling TONEX SE and AmpliTube 5 SE software.
IK Multimedia has taken its highly successful micro-pedal and addressed its most requested feature. The new TONEX ONE+ maintains the exact footprint of its predecessor but completely overhauls the communication protocol.
By adding wireless connectivity, guitarists can now use the TONEX Control mobile app to browse, tweak, and load over 60,000 Tone Models directly from their phones. This removes the traditional desktop workflow, allowing for real-time tone adjustments during rehearsals or live soundchecks without breaking the creative flow.
The major technical leap here is the addition of full MIDI support. Through the TRS and USB connections, the TONEX ONE+ integrates effortlessly into modern pedalboard switching systems. Players can automate preset changes, sync tempos, and control internal parameters in real time.
This functionality makes the pedal a viable brain for complex dual-amp or stereo configurations without requiring a massive floorboard.
Internally, the AI Machine Modelling engine remains the core processor. It captures the non-linear dynamic response of real tube amplifiers and boutique drive pedals. To support the launch, IK Multimedia included the Signature+ Collection.
This library provides 100 curated, mix-ready sounds based on iconic gear, ranging from pristine cleans to high-gain leads. The unit also features an improved noise gate designed specifically to tighten up aggressive tones across the broader TONEX ecosystem.
My Thoughts
Micro pedals always face the same problem. They give you a great footprint but terrible usability.
The original Tonex One had excellent modelling, but the industry consensus was clear.
Relying on a USB connection and a laptop just to tweak a basic EQ is a major friction point during a fast-paced tracking session.
By introducing Bluetooth and TRS MIDI, IK Multimedia is directly addressing that exact bottleneck. This level of seamless control is something producers have come to expect from IK Multimedia plugins, and seeing it ported to such a small hardware footprint is a significant step forward.
It shifts the unit from being a static desktop accessory to a highly functional front-end tool for recording guitars.
